Recent paintings by artist Chris Coffin will be on view at The Westside Local restaurant in Kansas City. His work reflects influence from the early 20th century Russian Avant Garde as well as the action of Abstract Expressionism. His study of Impressionism can be seen in some of the work’s presentation of color. In the past the artist has worked in pastels, oils and watercolors. In recent years Coffin has been working with acrylics, finding that the medium supports his sometimes rapid process used to create a number of the paintings on view.
The artist was born and raised in the Pacific Northwest, and has lived and worked in Washington, California and New York City. Having spent 18 years in the graphic design and publishing industries he has returned to his first passion of being a painter. He currently resides here in Kansas City. The paintings will be on view at The Westside Local restaurant through the month of September. The artist will be on hand during the evening of September 2nd for the First Fridays gallery walk.
